History
1942 – |
Allocations caused by World War II severely restricted the availability of primary raw materials essential to many manufacturers. John Neumann lost his job selling brass fittings and adapters for his uncle’s Chicago based screw machine shop due to this. He convinced his brother-in-law, Don McLain, to partner with him in a business named Royal Brass Products. |
1946 – |
John Neumann moved his family to Fond du Lac, while his partner remained in Chicago where he continued to sell their products. Royal Brass began its Fond du Lac operation from John’s home at 444 Fourth Street. Relatives were hired to perform the manufacturing operations while John worked to sell the products. |
1950 – |
The original building at Arlington Avenue (3000 sq. ft.) was erected. |
1957 – |
The first automatic screw machines were purchased. |
Early 1960s – |
The company was approached to make custom parts for other manufacturers in the Fond du Lac area. |
Late 1960s – |
The company started manufacturing custom hose and tube assemblies. |
1973 – |
John Neumann bought out his partner. |
1987 – |
The company became RB Royal Industries, Inc., to better present the image of a diversified manufacturer. |
1999 – |
The company received ISO 9002 Certification. |
2000 – |
Lean manufacturing processes began in the company’s manufacturing plant. |
2002 – |
The company moved to a 90,000 square foot facility at 1350 South Hickory Street. This marked the first time all the employees were working under the same roof since 1969. |
2003 – |
The company received ISO 9001:2000 Certification. |
2005 – |
Lean was brought into the office, creating two cells: Alpha and Wave. |
