Welder

Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components for final assembly by performing the following duties.

Shift:

2nd (3:30pm-2:00am M-TH)

Minimum starting rate is $19.00/hr and increases based on experience.

$1.25/hr shift premium.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Selects equipment and plans layout for welding and assembly of each project.
  • Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together to blueprint specifications.
  • Secures and welds parts of equipment with attention to warpage and metal fatigue.
  • Inspects final part for squareness and flatness. Straighten as needed using heat, press, clamps or other methods.
  • Assembles parts per assembly drawings and/or engineering instructions.
  • Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and rewelding per instructions or blueprint drawings.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  Associates degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  Forklift and Overhead Crane Certification.
  • OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and layouts. Team communication skills are important.
  • OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:  Prior experience working with stainless steel.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to walk and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally life and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and explosives. The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
