Material Selection

Fuel hardlines are meant to last. Stainless steel, aluminum, and coated steel are the best material options for fuel hardlines.

Stainless steel, while an excellent choice because of its naturally corrosion resistant properties, is difficult to cut and bend into shape. Aluminum might be easier to work with, but it won’t last as long compared to stainless steel. Coated steel is a strong middle ground both on corrosion resistance and workability.

Cutting and Bending

Once the material has been selected, the physical manufacturing process begins by cutting the tube to size. A key quality check during cutting is to ensure the open ends of the tube are smooth.

Fuel hardlines need flaring performed at each end of the tube so fittings can be secured.

Testing, Inspection, and Assembly

The end of the production process includes assembly by adding fittings to the ends of the tubes. From there, several quality control checks are performed to ensure there aren’t defects in the system such as cracks from bending, weak points, or leaks.
